Watering Hole

drink at the playgroundTake a moment to look at this cellphone picture (washed-out, I know) and you will understand why this past weekend, while the rest of the city was melting and moaning about the heat, I was feeling extremely comfortable.

In the background: my children, doing what they do in fountains. Playing. My boy, shirtless, is just left of center.

In the foreground: a cold and actually quite stiff margarita for me.

As a friend commented, it is essentially a playground with a bar. A beautiful thing.

Next time the mercury boils, if you are stuck in Gotham, go immediately to the unfortunately named PD O’Hurley’s at Pier 84 (44th St. on the Hudson). Your kids will cool off, and you will get  a buzz.
